WUST-City College, an independent college of higher education approved by Hubei Provincial Government, was established in 2002.The College itself was officially registered by the Ministry of Education in February 2004.
Based on the disciplines at WUST, the college organises classes according to the social and economic development of the society and the students’ future employment opportunities.
Wuhan University of Science and Technology is fully responsible for its curriculum, thus the quality of teaching is guaranteed.
There are 22 undergraduate programs (Nursing, Business Administration, International Economics and Trade, Financial Management, English, Law, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Information and Computation Science, Electronic Commerce, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering etc.) and 14 junior college programs (Advanced Nursing /Foreign Nursing, Marketing, Logistics Management, Securities Investment and Management, Accounting Computerization, Environmental Artistic Design, Computer Network Technology, Mechatronics Technology, etc.)
This experimental College is the first one to utilize common teaching resources and civil investment with a distinctive approach, and it’s now accessible to 13,000 students. Well funded, the college is undergoing a steady improvement. Surrounded by the beautiful East Lake, it is located in a scenic area with plenty of studying and living facilities. Completed in July 2004, teaching buildings and students’ dormitories, with an area of 1,000 mu and 157,000 square metres, were built with an investment of 240 million RMB. Teaching buildings, sports grounds and facilities, dormitories for students and teachers, library, bathhouses and canteens have been completed and put into use.
Adopting advanced education concepts as well as new methodologies in and out of China, our college has paid great heed to the effectiveness of its development programs, therefore the quality of teaching has been improved considerably. Over 50% of the second-year candidates who attended CET-4 for the first time passed the examination in Dec. 2003. Among all the participant classes, “International Economy and Trade-Class 2” obtained the highest passing rate 83.3 %, higher than the average in Hubei Province and Mainland China.
From now on, more than 40 foreign teachers have been worked here. At this moment, there are 16 foreigners, they are come from 6 different counties. We are always welcome more foreigners to come here. We have been cooperated with 3 overseas Universities, there are Middlesex University London, University of Central Lancashire and Victoria University Australia.
In 2004, at the Provincial Independent College Forum, the Hubei Education Department gave compliments about this College and its achievements. Making full use of its flexible running system, the college has improved the quality of the personnel, management and services. So there is a group of highly qualified teachers and administrators who are now working for the college. The college is planning to become a first-class college. Within 3 to 5 years, with 20,000 students. The teaching facilities and administration are expected to improve even more, which will give a better life to the students and promising future for the college.
